Each season participants in the Girls on the Run program work towards the goal of running or walking a 5K at the end of the season. Girls on the Run Treasure Valley has partnered with the East Junior High Hornet Run and the Barber to Boise 5K as our community 5K’s in the spring and the fall. Not only do we encourage the girls to participate in these events, but we also encourage family and friends to join as running buddies.

East Jr. High Hornet Run 5K
Held each year at the beginning of May, Girls on the Run has been a part of the Hornet Run for many, many years. The Hornet Run 5K course is an out and back course from East Jr. High in East Boise, off of Warm Springs.

For Parents, GOTR participants and Running Buddies
We will be meeting Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 8:30am.
Where: We will meet at 8:30am at East Jr. High, 5600 East Warm Springs Avenue, Boise. This is across Warm Springs Avenue from the Idaho Shakespeare Festival.
Directions: From I-84 take the Gowen Road Exit (exit 57). Head east on Highway 21 (towards Lucky Peak) for about 3 miles and turn left on Warm Springs Avenue. East Jr. High will be on your right side about 2 miles in.
For those near Warm Springs Ave, take Warm Springs east past Harris Ranch until you arrive at the destination, on your left.
Parking: You can park in the parking lot on the west side of the school or in front of the school.
When: The race will start at 9:30am. Girls on the Run will meet at 8:30am in the school gym inside the front doors. Please wear your Girls on the Run colored t-shirt.
When you arrive in the gym, find your coach to get your race numbers. Before the race starts Girls on the Run will take a group picture and do some warm ups. All family members and friends are welcome to join in the fun. Parents are encouraged to make cheer signs to have along the route for the GOTR participants.
Plan to stay after you’ve finished the event to grab some snacks and cheer on your fellow GOTRs as they cross the Finish Line.
