How to Talk to Your Parents 101

How to Talk to Your Parents 101:

Sometimes you really need to talk with your mom or dad. But it’s not always easy. Maybe you don’t know what to say or how to bring it up. Maybe they’re really busy and you don’t get to spend as much time with them as you’d like. Maybe the TV’s always on during dinner, and then it’s time to do homework and go to bed.

Whatever the reason, it’s still really important to talk to your parents every day. Find a time when you know you’ve got their attention. Maybe over cereal at breakfast or when they come kiss you goodnight. Let them know you want to talk to them before you leave for school or before you go to bed. Tell them about your day – what you did, anything good that happened to you, any problems you’re having. They’re your parents. They want to know this stuff! And chances are they’ve been through stuff like you’re going through right now when they were kids. They can really help you out, but you need to talk to them first.
