Girls: Saying No

Saying No

Have your friends ever asked you to do something that you didn’t want to do? Or have you ever gone along with something because you felt like you had to? I know I have. And I felt really bad about it later.

I was a pretty shy kid, so I felt really uncomfortable standing up for myself. I wish I had had someone to show me how to say no when I was a kid. Lucky for you, you do! Your parents, teachers, coaches, assistant coaches, and running buddies are there for you. You can ask them for help. And you can ask me even if I’m not your coach – just click the Ask Us button to your right. We’re here to help you. Being an adolescent is tough business these days. You have a lot more pressure than we did when we were kids. Still, whatever you’re going through, we’ve likely been there too. So don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
