River Valley Elementary Week One

It almost seems too perfect that the our first River Valley GOTR session was only a few days after Dr. Seuss Day, a day that honors green eggs and ham and reminds us all of all the places we can go. With smiles on their faces, our 16 girls were ready. Tuesday was their special day.

Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

We began our first session with an affirmation name game. We had Perky Peyten, Beautiful Brooke, Crafty Kaitlyn, Animal Loving Ava and so many other awesome girls (and an Assistant Coach Awesome too) who learned a little about each other and a little about GOTR. Each girl was there because she wanted to challenge herself to go to great places and oh’ the possibilities! By the end of the session the girls had their sights set on beating (or at least making him sweat) Coach Pete during the Beat Coach Pete Run in April and reaching their personal goals at the Hornet Run in May. Of course May is a long way away and there will be many fun adventures along the way and lots of Good Jobs! And Way to Go! We began calculating all the laps for our 150 tally sheet, just in our second day the girls racked up nearly 25 miles as a whole group! Wow! We can’t wait to see what else they will accomplish throughout the season!

They’ll be on their way up!
They’ll be seeing great sights!
They’ll join the high fliers
who soar to high heights.

Thank you Dr. Seuss for your inspirational message to girls across America and thank you Molly Barker for making Girls on the Run possible!
