Season’s Over, Now What?

Here at Girls on the Run, we know how much your daughter is looking forward to the summer months. All that time to play; all that nice weather. But we don’t want her to forget everything we talked about at Girls on the Run. A few weeks into the season, she should have brought home a sheet with a list of GOTR values and what a GOTR girl does. If you still have that, we’d love for you to hang it somewhere that she will see it or post it on the refrigerator door.

If not, here it is in a nutshell. R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

R stands for responsibility. We want our girls to be responsible and accountable to themselves and others.

E stands for encouraging and empathetic. We want our girls to encourage others to do their best and show compassion when they can’t.

S stands for standing up for herself and what she believes in. We teach our girls not to tolerate bullying or gossiping and to put a stop to those types of behavior whenever they see it.

P stands for positivity. We teach our girls to have a positive, can do attitude.

E stands for exercising and eating healthy. We want our girls to be role models for their peers on what it means to be a healthy person – physically, mentally, and emotionally.

C stands for community. Volunteering and serving others is a big part of Girls on the Run and we want our girls to continue to do volunteer work or community service over their summer break.

T stands for try. Nobody’s perfect, but we teach our girls to try their hardest and do the best they can.

That’s it! We wish you a healthy and happy summer and look forward to seeing you and your daughter next Fall.
