Summer Smoothies!

smoothieBefore heading out for your next run or as a refresher when you get home, try one of these smoothies to cool you down!

 

Antioxidant Smoothie:

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Yields: 1 serving

1 cup blueberries

1 cup blackberries

4 cups packed spinach leaves

1-2 cups water

 

Place all ingredients into a powerful blender or Vita-Mix and blend on high until smooth.

 

Tropical Delight Smoothie:

 Prep Time: 10 minutes

Yields: 1 serving

1 cup fresh or frozen pineapple

½ avocado

2 cups spinach or kale

½ to 1-inch piece of fresh ginger

1-2 cups water

 

Place all ingredients into a powerful blender or Vita-Mix and blend on high until smooth.

 

Super Blue Smoothie

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Yields: 1 serving

1 large cucumber, peeled and sliced

2 cups fresh blueberries

1 cup greens (e.g., lettuces, kale, spinach)

1-2 cups water

 

Place all ingredients into a powerful blender or Vita-Mix and blend on high until smooth.

 

 

Peach-Ginger Delight

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Yields: 1 serving

1 large peach, pitted

1/2 bunch kale

1 medium cucumber

½ to 1-inch piece of fresh ginger

1-2 cups water

 

Place all ingredients into a Vita-Mix or other high-powered blender and blend until smooth. Add more water for a thinner smoothie. If it is too bitter, add another piece of fruit to taste.

 

Raspberry Smoothie

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Yields: 1 serving

2 cups leafy greens (kale, lettuce, spinach, etc.)

1 cup raspberries

2-3 whole pitted dates

1 scoop protein powder (try brown rice)

2 cups water (more or less for desired consistency)

 

Place all ingredients into a Vita-Mix or other high-powered blender and blend until smooth. Add more water for a thinner smoothie. If it is too bitter, add another piece of fruit to taste.
